So, we are a movie watching family! We enjoy a good in-theatre experience. But, let's face it, nothing makes Abby happier than Benedict Cumberbatch. (She says she is not a "Cumberbitch". I should hope not! Why would anyone let themselves be called that? Yikes.) I'm happy when famous mathematicians get any screen time. Ker likes a good historical movie and Colleen likes to go see Sherlock. So, it is not surprising that our first movie over here was The Imitation Game.
It was AWESOME!!! We went to the town of Swords which is a commuter town to Dublin. Swords is like Beaverton--nice, upper middle class, with lots of shopping. We went to the 1 pm show time and had the theatre mostly to ourselves. I had a moment of panic when there was a group of screaming girl children (maybe 8 or 9?) attending what appeared to be a birthday party at the movie theatre. They were LOUD. And, SHREEKY. I was very worried that they would be coming to our movie. When it looked like my evil looks were scaring the birthday girl, Ker assured me that only people of my kind would hold a children's birthday party at a movie about mathematicians. Phew!
The seats were spacious and comfy. The movie was totally engrossing, well acted and the popcorn was good so they tell me. My only little beef was that there was so little actual math put in the movie. But, you can't win them all, yes?
